Another jump for COVID-19 cases

There’s been another double digit jump in new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties for the second consecutive week, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

However, no new deaths have occurred in either county during that same period, according to the OSDH.

The OSDH recently began reporting the breakdown of deaths and new cases on a weekly basis rather than daily.

The agency has stated the reason is because of the decline in COVID-19 cases.

The agency is releasing that information on Wednesdays so the most recent numbers provided here are from July 7 since this week’s edition went to press Tuesday night, July 13.

There have been 131 deaths in Pottawatomie County attributed to COVID-19. Lincoln County has 72 reported deaths.

Lincoln County has 72 reported deaths.

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County rose by 19 and in Lincoln County they increased by 14, according to figures provided by the OSDH.

Between the two counties, the number of positive tests jumped by 33 from the most recent report by the OSDH.

The previous report had that number increasing by only 36.

Lincoln County’s latest number is 3,295. It was 3,281 at the last report.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County now stands at 8,449. Last report it was 8,430.
