Students from Creighton University are in town this week doing volunteer work.
They are going to help Town Talk place the greens on the golf course holes Friday.
The completion of the miniature golf course has gone much slower than we anticipated.
We have been short on monies.
One source of funding that we thought we’d have access to didn’t pan out so that has slowed us down considerably.
We have several other funding avenues we are looking into to complete the project and put all the Route 66 touches on it.
Our goal is to try and have it open on weekends in November. There will be a charge to play. Even though the course won’t be completed we want you to bring your kids out to play and give them something to look forward to next spring.
It won’t be in its final state, but it will at least let you see what we are working towards.
A big thank you to Andrea Flatt Thompson for decorating Main Street for the fall season.
Her good friends and former classmates were on hand to help. Sheana Tisdale Newnam helped with some decorating and April Cooper Melton loaned the hay. City Manager Bob Pearman helped the girls rustle up extra bales as well.
Cathy Terry and Andrea of Unique Market donated some of the pumpkins.
The Lions Club donated their extra pumpkins after their Pumpkin Patch fundraiser.
It was a great team effort and that’s what it takes for our community to be the best it can be.
The American Legion Auxiliary met this week after having to reschedule from their regular meeting time.
Members attending were Julie Bivin, Aleta Smalley, Maxine Jordan, Cindy Mason, Delores Hamlin, Jo Braden, and Diana Reed.
Items discussed and voted on were how to honor our veterans this year on Veterans’ Day, a raffle fundraiser of an Americana quilt and an American folk-art duck and the selling of yard signs for Veteran’s Day thanking our veterans.
If you are interested in purchasing raffle tickets or a yard sign, give me a call at 918-527-9833 and I’ll get them to you.
Have a wonderful week and remember to shop our local merchants for all your fall needs.
You get to choose where to shop so we thank you for choosing to shop local...............first
