‘How to cook a turkey’ recipes

If you’re in charge of the turkey this week and need help on how to cook it, you’re in luck.

We canvassed the area elementary schools and have gotten turkey recipes from first-graders. They are presented on Pages 1D-4D for your culinary pleasure.

Here are a few that we thought looked especially promising:

Christian, from Mrs. Echelle’s class: First you cook it by a stove. Then you eat. Then you make mashed potatoes. Then you make sweet carrots, then you make lollipops with sugar on it. That’s all.

Josiah, from Mrs. Thompson’s class: First, chase a turkey and get the bones out. Then cook it in the fire for 6 minutes. Then eat it.

Drew, from Mrs. Scott’s class: Put the turkey in the fryer. Stuff it with lemons and meats. Put it back in the fryer. Cook it for 10 minutes. Take it out and put it on the table. Eat it!

Brently, from Mrs. Blankenship’s class:

First kill turkey with snipper gun. Next remove the feathers and guts. Then cook on stove top for six minutes at one thousand degrees. Lastly serve with apples, corn, cake, Sprite, Root Beer and while you eat.

Avery from Mrs. Echelle’s class: First I buy one at the grocery store. Then I put it in the oven. When it’s done I take it out. I use that thingy that goes in the turkey to let me know when it’s done, it beeps when it’s done. My sister and my mom season it with a secret. Then my brother gets to try a little slice of it.

Shelton, from Mrs. Blankenship’s class: First I wrestle it to the ground while my dad shoots it with a fire gun. Next take the feathers off and drain the blood out. Then cook in the oven for sixty-one minutes at five degrees. Lastly pour blood back on it and add salt to eat.
