Fatal crash in county

A woman from Jennings died the day after Thanksgiving in a traffic collision on U.S. 177 south of Carney in Lincoln County.

State Trooper Chad Pape identified the woman who died as Teresa Jennings, 64. He reported she was pronounced dead from trunk internal injuries at the scene by the Carney Fire Department.

Pape said she was transported from the scene by the Medical Examiner to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

The trooper reported she was driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla.

Driver of the other vehicle involved was identified as Charles Colton Dabbert. 20, of Lubbock, Texas. He was not injured and the vehicle he was driving was a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, the trooper stated.

Pape said the fatal collision occurred around 3:18 p.m. on U.S. 177 near E. 840 Road, approximately one mile south of Carney.

The trooper reported what happened, condition of both drivers at the time of the collision, seat belt usage and the cause are all under investigation.

Pape, of the Traffic Homicide Division, was assisted by Troopers Davis, Scott and Hunn all of the Pottawatomie and Lincoln County detachment of Troop A along with Iowa Tribal Police and the Carney Fire Department.
