Meeker sets election

TheMeekerTownBoard this week adopted a resolution calling for the election of the Town in 2023.

The board also spent a brief time in two executive sessions before returning and approving pay increases for three employees.

Concerning the election, there will be three 4-year terms elected and one unexpired term to fill a two-year term.

Currently holding those three 4-year terms up for election are Mayor Donna Weber and Trustees Mike Melton and Lanny Thompson. Trustee Mike Orman currently is in the seat up for the unexpired two-year term.

The filing period for the election is from 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8. If needed, the non-partisan general election will be held on April 4, 2023.

Each candidate must be a qualified elector by being a resident and registered voter within the municipality for at least six months prior to filing the declaration of candidacy.

In other business, the Trustees spent about 25 minutes in executive session before returning to open meeting and voting to approve a $1.50 an hour pay increase for Delanya Wolford who is the Town’s librarian and also works at Town Hall.

Her new rate of pay will be $14.50 an hour. She was being paid $13.00 an hour.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, Trustees spent a brief time in executive session before returning to open meeting and voting hourly pay raises for two employees.

They raised Diana Rodgers’ hourly pay to $15.30 from $14.03 an hour and raised RickWright’s hourly wage from $12 to $12.50 an hour.
