William Alfred Grandstaff (W.A.), 99, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at his home in Carney, Oklahoma. W.A. was born on August 20, 1925, to Ira Alfred and Sophia (Danker) Grandstaff.
He was raised in Lincoln County and attended Happy Hill School. W.A. married Evelyn Lois Brown on November 9, 1942. Three children were born of that marriage: Gary, Janet and Jimmy. He owned Grandstaff Roofing and W.A.G. Construction until he retired. He had a love for exotic animals and, for many years resided at Grandstaff Game Farm that hosted buffalo, llama, and several species of deer, among other animals. In addition, he was an avid hunter.
He then married Virginia Nichols in 1999.
W.A. was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Sophia; two of his children, Gary Grandstaff and Janet Jaggers; and his siblings,Annie Grandstaff, Dorothy Collier, Ellen Keys, Juanita Smith, Margie Ragsdale, Leonard Grandstaff and Millard Grandstaff.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Grandstaff, of the home, his son Jimmy Grandstaff, seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 24 great-greatgrandchildren.
A graveside service was held Friday, December 27, at 11 a.m. at Star Valley Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma.
