Roy was born on May 3, 1943, to Lloyd (Jim) and Eathel Elizabeth (Armstrong) Toles in Perkins, Oklahoma on the family farm. Roy graduated Wellston High School and went on to Okmulgee Tech. Roy married Loretta Ann Stokes on August 30, 1965. Roy and Loretta had two daughters, Janice Sue Toles and Kimberly Denise (Toles) Wyckoff.

Roy worked at Cleo Harris Station along with his twin brother Troy. He worked at Hagman Wholesale delivering supplies to Sonic on Main Street, in Stillwater. This is where he met Loretta. Before retiring Roy ran the road grater for Payne County. Roy was a perfectionist, and it showed in the work he did.

Roy never met a stranger. He would greet people with a hand shake and act as if he had known them all his life. Roy had many friends. He loved fishing and running trout lines, and he always had a big garden. Roy enjoyed working on his tractor. He would blade the road where he lived and would blade snow off the road. He enjoyed helping Loretta with her quilts. Roy loved to watch the movie “Where the Red Fern Grows”. He liked to listen to Johnny Horton records as well as Box Car Willie. Roy and Loretta loved traveling in their motor home. Branson, Missouri was their favorite place to go.
