Weeks honored with FFA national awards

Blake Weeks, a dedicated member of Meeker FFA, has achieved one of the highest honors in the organization by being named an American FFA Degree recipient.

He will be recognized for his achievement during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October.

But that’s not all—Blake has also been selected as a National Finalist for the Swine Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award, placing him among the top four students in the nation.

He will interview in September against three other finalists for a chance to be named National Champion at the upcoming convention.

Blake’s journey in FFA has been fueled by family support and a passion for agriculture.

“My parents would have inspired me the most throughout my FFA experience,” he shared. “Whether it was long nights in the barn or road trips to shows, they always were alongside me.”

His swine operation currently features one sow producing two litters annually, with piglets sold to customers across multiple states.

Beyond his SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience), Blake has also competed in several Career and Leadership Development Events, including prepared public speaking, opening and closing ceremonies, and livestock judging.

An animal science major at Redlands Community College, Blake plans to continue building his skills with the goal of one day owning and operating a self-sustaining swine operation.

“What I will say on trying to make it to the national level is that it is hard,” he said.

“Lots of long days on AET with Mr. Johns and spending as much time working on my own operation have allowed me to grasp this opportunity.”

The Meeker FFA chapter is proud to have Blake represent their program at the national level, where his hard work and dedication will be celebrated.
