Larry Wayne Durr, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at his home in Wellston, Oklahoma.
LarrywasbornonFebruary 3, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Theodore and Virginia Faye (Holden) Russ. He grew up in Cincinnati, where he graduated from high school. After graduating from high school, he served as an assistant instructor in mechanic shop at Lorain County Community College. Later, Larry proudly served his country in the UnitedStatesArmyforfour years, working as a medic. On June 5, 1988, Larry married Rose Butkovsky in Irving, Texas. The couple lived in Texas for several years before relocating to Wellston, Oklahoma, where they made their home for the past 23 years. Larry worked for a time in a steel mill in Elyria, Ohio. Although he held many positions throughout his life, his favorite job was as a delivery driver and cook at Pizza Inn in Dallas, Texas. Larry spent most of his career as a mechanic, working in various shops, and in his later years for himself.
Larry was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed building and refurbishing furniture, constructing wishing wells, and tinkering with cars, and most recently, he took up baking. Musically inclined, he played the trumpet, viola, French horn, and violin, and sang baritone. A compassionate and giving man, Larry volunteered with Straight Street Ministries in Chandler, Oklahoma. Known for his sharp mind, he had a gift for mathematics. He was also a jokester who loved making his family laugh and rarely went a day without an endless cup of coffee.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Faye Russ; brother, Ronnie Durr, sisters, Marsha Cress, and Ronda Durr; and father-in-law, John Thomas Butkovsky.
Heissurvivedbyhiswife of 37 years, Rose Durr; his father, Theodore Russ and his wife, Lorelyn Russ; children, Theodore Durr, Antony Durr, John Durr, Mandy Durr, and Jannet Durr; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one on the way; brother- in-law, Michael John Butkovsky and his wife, Angie Butkovsky, sister-inlaw, Maryhelene Butcher and her husband, Robert Butcher; as well as several nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends.
