Prague School Board makes personnel decisions

The Prague School Board approved employment decisions and policies at its regular meeting on Aug. 10, as well as heard an update on the new high school construction.

The Board approved the resignation of Heather Capron (paraprofessional), as well as the administrative contracts and teacher salary schedules for the 2026-2027 school year. It also approved the employment of Micah Taylor (paraprofessional), Staci Gaskill (paraprofessional), Collier Robertson (ISD), Korey Walker (adjunct - World History) and April Davis (adjunct - Vocal Music).

The Board approved Student Handboooks with edits verbalized by Superintendent James Payne as well as a slew of policies in the consent agenda. This included the polices on nepotism, records investigation, affadavit of good standing, maternity leave, bereavement leave, staff members and electronic or digital communications, artificial intelligence systems and tools use in the school district, concurrent enrollment students, student retention, Strong Readers Act, student transfers, children of active duty military members, reporting suspected child abuse and/or neglect, fundraising by in-school organizations and personal electronic devices.

The Board also approved a contract with the City of Prague SRO, a contract with Career Tech for Secondary Career and Tech Education, the deregulation for Library Services and deregulation for Alt. Ed Abbreviated Day in the consent agenda.

Superintendent James Payne reported that the demolition of the high school is nearly completion and concrete work will begin in November for the new building. He also reported that Prague Schools will enforce the OSSAA Wet Bulb Rule in sports practice activities and are making accommodations to outdoor sports events to help keep everyone safe.
