The Dale Board of Education this week renewed the contract of Acting School Supt. and Secondary Principal Ky Wilkins and Assistant Principal J.D. Widner.
The board members also accepted the letter of retirement of Elementary Principal Bruce Throckmorton.
Wilkins reviewed the district’s financial condition with board members.
He told the board that through January of 2021 (this fiscal year), the district had spent more than $2.6 million. That compares with $2.8 million spent through January of 2020, a savings of more than $168,000.
He said the actual local revenue, money that the state cannot touch, stood at $399,776 through January (last month) and in January of 2020 that number was $367,289, an increase of $32,000.
Wilkins told the board the building fund has $106,349 as the end of last month and in January of 2020 that number was $84,154, a gain of $22,195.
The cash balance in January of 2020 was $708,535, he said. In January of this year, the amount stood at $505,782, a decline of $202,753 from a year ago.
Wilkins pointed out State aid received through January of this year was $1,550,803 and that is a $215,828 drop from the $1,766,631 the district had been allocated by the end of January of 2020.
Wilkins said the current balance of the education sales tax fund as of the end of last month is $170,156.
In other business, the board approved the calendar for 2021-2022 that included calculating the school year by 1,080 hours instead of 180 days.
Board members agreed to the joint agreement with Gordon Cooper Technology Center to offer certain academic classes approved by the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
The board also hired Jackilyn Parker as a cafeteria dishwasher.
