Darla grew up in Kendrick, Oklahoma, with her parents and siblings. She attended Kendrick Public Schools and later Stroud Public School, graduating from Stroud High School in 1985. After graduation, she met the love of her life, Charles Scott Forbis. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. They made their home in Chandler, Oklahoma, where they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth and happiness. Their years together were marked by adventures, shared dreams, and, above all, a deep love for their family.
Darla worked for many years for Mrs. Bonnie Walkingstick, with whom she shared a special bond rooted in their mutual love of flowers and making things grow.
Throughout Darla’s life, hergreatestjoyswerefound in the simple things, especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. They brought immeasurable joy to her life and filled her heart with love.
Darla also had an extraordinary green thumb. She loved filling her front porch and yard with beautiful flowers and plants. She found happiness in making things beautiful and creating a welcoming home for the people she loved. Her lovefor growing things was a reflection of the care and beauty she brought into the lives of those around her.
Darla’s faith in God was extremely important to her. She wanted her children and grandchildren to know the Lord and carry that faith with them throughout their lives. Her unwavering positive outlook, gentle spirit, and caring heart were reflections of that faith. She had a way of seeing the good in people, finding blessings in the simplest moments, and making those around her feel loved and valued.
Darla didn’t just speak of God’s love; she showed it through the way she treated others and lived her life each day. Like the flowers she so lovingly tended, the seeds of faith, love, and kindness she planted in the lives of others will continue to bloom for generations to come.
Above all, Darla loved her family. Being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister was at the heart of who she was. The love she gave, the memories she created, and the example she set will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. If there were one phrase to describe Darla and the 59 years of life she lived, it would be “Simply Beautiful.” Her life was a reflection of the beauty found in love, faith, family, and the everyday moments that mean the most.Though her family will miss her dearly, the love she shared will remain with them always.
As Proverbs 31:28–31 reminds us: “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’ Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
Darla’s life was simply beautiful, and her memory will forever be treasured by all who loved her.
