Janet Louise Mitchell was born on May 1, 1947, to Ervin and Hazel (Wakley) Allen and passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, at the age of 79.
She was married to her late husband, James C. Mitchell, for 49 years.
Jan was a Chandler alumna of the Class of 1965.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and sister-in-law.
Jan leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by her two sisters, two brothers, a brother-in-law, two sons, a daughter, a daughter-in-law, and a deeply loved generation of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jan’s life was held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at New Beginning Church in Davenport. Arrangements were under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
