Carney Board hires interim police chief

The Town of Carney Board of Trustees hired an interim police chief at a special meeting on June 3.According to the minutes of the meeting, the trustees accepted the resignation of Chief John Cobb effective June 9, allowing him to switch to part-time at $20/ hr.

A man who pulled a gun on a detention officer while being booked at the Lincoln County Jail in September 2024 has pleaded no contest to four counts, including attempt to kill.
