Deadline for absentee ballots applications

January 20, 2023, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the February 14th Lincoln County Special Election and the Board of Education Primary Election, Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh said today.

Arson charge in January blaze

A Meeker area man has been charged with arson following his arrest recently by an agent with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Youlha Rhodes, 39, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Jan. 13 with second degree arson. Rhodes appeared beforeAssociate District Judge Sheila Kirk Jan.

Warrant issued

Abench warrant has been issued for one of two people who allegedly robbed and kidnapped a Lincoln County woman recently. Formal felony charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping were filed in Lincoln County District Court Jan.

Tryon hearings continued

Preliminary hearings have been continued for two of three former officials with the City of Tryon facing embezzlement and conspiracy charges as the result of a special investigative audit have made their initial appearances and their prepreliminary hearings have been scheduled.

Pedestrian killed on turnpike

A pedestrian died New Year’s Eve afternoon after he was struck by two vehicles on the Turner Turnpike near Wellston in Lincoln County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. State Trooper Hamilton identified the man who died as Thien Tran, 74, of Oklahoma City.

No decision on jail

Lincoln County commissioners this week continued to briefly discuss the proposed jail project but took no action on choosing a particular plan. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon reported that she learned ARPA funds can be used for the project as long as it doesn’t bring in federal prisoners.

Hearings set in chop shop

The pre-preliminary hearings for two of several defendants charged in an alleged chop shop operation have been scheduled for this month.
