Grass fire dangers

Firefighters from eight different fire departments along with Lincoln County Emergency Management responded to a wildfire last week between Davenport and Stroud. Cody McDonell, Deputy Director of Lincoln County Emergency Management, said the first call came in around 1 p.m.

Fatality on Turner Turnpike

A Texas man died in a multiple vehicle traffic collision on the Turner Turnpike in Lincoln County three days before Christmas, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. State Trooper Shayne Ballard of the Traffic Homicide Division identified the man who died as Adelfino Alaniz, 77, of Freer, Texas.

Miss Lincoln County Organization officials announced that the 2nd annual Miss Lincoln County and Miss Lincoln County’s Outstanding Teen Competitions will be 6 p.m. Jan. 7, 2023 at the Prague Auditorium.

Weeks arrested, in jail

A Shawnee man wanted on 34 felony charges of sex-related crimes with minors has been arrested and is in custody. The 34 felony charges were formally filed in Pottawatomie County District Court on Dec. 15 against Danny Ray Weeks, Jr., 52.

Motion filed in case of Wellston attorney

The District Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to revoke the bond or in the alternative strengthen the bond of a Wellston attorney facing multiple drugrelated felony charges after Lincoln County deputies served a search warrant on the attorney’s property and arrested her.

More felonies for Wellston man

A Wellston man awaiting a pre-preliminary hearing this week on four charges he already faces has been charged with two new felonies. Larry Don Seebeck, 57, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court Dec.

Hearing waived in endangerment

One of two men facing child endangerment and drug-related charges following their arrest recently byLincolnCountydeputies has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The other’s pre-preliminary hearing has been continued. The two were arrested in the parking lot of a store at U.S. 177 and U.S.

Drug court for Stroud man

A Stroud man, who was handed two deferred terms on felonies in May of this year, has been sentenced to drug court on a new felony count and a misdemeanor following his arrest by police. Steven Eugene Laffoon, 63, was charged in Lincoln County District on Sep.

Looking back at 2022
