The Carney Fire Department held its second annual fund-raiser last week, with money raised going for training needs. Personnel from the Community Health Centers, located in the Dorothy M. Smith Medical Center, were on hand to distribute health information for citizens stopping by for lunch.

The Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week adopted a resolution to facilitate a Community Development Block Grant for water and wastewater engineering. They also took two other actions related to the possible grant.

More deaths, but COVID cases decline in area

The number of deaths in the area attributed to COVID-19 has risen by three over the past week, but the number of new cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties has slowed significantly, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show.

Felony charges for Carney woman in chase

A Carney woman faces six charges following a reported high speed chase through parts of Lincoln County last month. Two felonies and four misdemeanors were filed in Lincoln County District Court on March 2 against Brandy Renee Tagg, 38.

Bench warrant in firearm case

A $15,000 bench warrant has been issued for an Oklahoma City man who allegedly pointed a firearm at a woman in Lincoln County last December.
