The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has climbed by five each in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.

Charges filed in Meeker assault

A 48-year-old man has been charged in Lincoln County District Court with Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation. Matthew Brian Cone, no address listed, was officially charged on Jan. 21. Court records show that Cone appeared before Associate Judge Sheila Kirk on Jan.

Felony charges filed

A Cushing man has been charged with a felony following his arrest in mid-January by Lincoln County deputies. Jeremiah Lee Sargent, 32, was formally charged on Jan. 27 with larceny from the house. Court records show that Sargent’s bond was set at $5,000.

No action on property

Lincoln County commissioners held a special meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4 and the main agenda item concerned possible purchase of real property.

This year’s Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Trophy Auction and Pig Roast held last week set a new record. Suzanne Gilbert, who is chairperson of the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show, advised me that the total amount raised during last week’s event was just short of $50,000.

Happenings at Prairie Pointe

Prairie Pointe residents were very thankful to welcome Bro. James Bond, Mason McCormick and Carson Wright from the First Baptist Church to lead worship services Sunday. Bro. James’ timely sermon reminded us of the “Supremacy of God”, reading from Act 17.
