Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce

Due to the recent spike in the number of local COVID cases, the Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has decided to postpone the Annual Banquet that was scheduled for January 2021. The decision was made out of concern for the safety of Chamber members and their guests.

Wellston Church to host Christmas Eve service

The public is invited bring the family to Wellston United Methodist Church to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. The drive-in service will be on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 24, in the parking lot of the church at Fourth Street and Birch in Wellston. Casual dress is appropriate.

Diabetes Prevention program offered

Community members 18 years of age or older who have been diagnosed with prediabetes or previously diagnosed with gestational diabetes are eligible to participate in the Centers for Disease Control’s Diabetes Prevention Program.

Chandler High School seniors Jackson Barton and Rachel Wayland have been chosen as Lions of the Month by the Lion’s Club for the month of December.

Tax assessment period begins

The Lincoln County Assessor’s office will begin taking exemption applications and personal property assessments on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, according to Assessor Jackie Holcomb. The annual exemption and assessment period will continue until March 15, 2021.

McLoud City Council

McLoud City Council members have adopted a resolution of a notice of election for the coming year. The terms of three of the Council members come to an end in 2021. City Manager Buck Day said they include Ward 3 Councilman Daniel McClure Jr.

McLoud man gets 57 months on automatic weapons charge

A McLoud man who was arrested and charged last summer with unlawfully possessing a fully automatic weapon has been handed a federal prison sentence. Christopher Steven Ledbetter, 29, of McLoud, was arrested June 4 by FBI agents in Oklahoma City.

Joan Walters receives the first Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in Lincoln County last week. An RN and Stroud Regional Medical Center’s infection control practitioner Joan Walters, RN, was one of 56 health care professionals who received the vaccine from the Lincoln County Health Department.
