There’s only a few days left in the month of August which means September is just around the corner. Many of you know this is one of my favorite times of the year. Next Tuesday is Sept. 1, and that marks the opening day of the annual statewide dove season.

Plans underway for Cowboy Rodeo in Prague

Team entries are being accepted for a Cowboy Rodeo to be hosted by the Prague Round-Up Club. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Prague Rodeo Arena. A limit of 12 team entries will be accepted. The first 12 checks received by Tuesday, Sept. 1, will be entered.

Pottawatomie and Lincoln County are now in COVID-19 Orange Level Two, which is 25 to 50 cases per 100,000 residents, according to the Oklahoma State School Board Association COVID-19 map with data from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

Marlon Miller unseated incumbent Troy Evans in the race for Lincoln County Commissioner District 2 Tuesday, getting just over 68 percent of the vote in the Republican runoff. Miller had 694 votes to 325 for Evans.

34 nursing home residents tested positive for COVID-19

34 residents at the Chandler Therapy and Living Center tested positive for COVID-19 with some tests results still pending, according to Lincoln County Emergency Management Director Wendi Marcy.
