In a small country cemetery located in between Chandler and Davenport, a small group of volunteers gathers early on a cloudy Saturday morning. They joke around and share stories about friends and what they did throughout the week.They stand next to a box of flags.

With this past weekend being Memorial Day, while I was out taking photos of volunteers putting flowers and flags on the graves of veterans, I found my thoughts wandering away. Over into the Ozarks, to a veterans cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Earlier this month, the Oklahoma legislature passed HB 3660, which would allow natural organic reduction, or as it’s more commonly known, human composting, as an option for disposition. It was then vetoed by Gov. Kevin Stitt, who cited “moral and human dignity” as some of the reasons.

The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail for the June 16 election is 5 p.m. Monday, June 1.Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Dena Jo Bromley said absentee voting is available to all voters in Oklahoma.

Seminole State College releases honor roll lists

Seminole State College has released its honor roll lists for the spring 2026 semester. There were approximately 455 students named to the three lists.The President’s Honor Roll is awarded to students who maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average (GPA) while taking at least 12 credit hours.
