Meeker sets election

TheMeekerTownBoard this week adopted a resolution calling for the election of the Town in 2023. The board also spent a brief time in two executive sessions before returning and approving pay increases for three employees.

Dale extends contract for school superintendent

Dale’s Board of Education has voted to extend the contract of its superintendent by a year beginning in July of 2023 and members also hired two new people. The board held a special meeting Dec.12 rather than on Dec. 5 due to illness of some members.

Lewis retires from OTA

Chandler resident Barry Lewis, shown at right with his wife, Demetra, retired after 31 years with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and was honored with a reception Sunday at the Route 66 Interpretive Center.

Bench warrant issued for sex suspect

A bench warrant of more than a half-million dollars has been issued for the arrest of a Shawnee man facing over 30 charges of sex-related crimes with minors. A total of 34 felony charges were formally filed in Pottawatomie County District Court on Dec. 15 against Danny Ray Weeks, Jr., 52.

2A-2 All-District football team

Casmen Hill, shown at right running for some of the 349 yards he gained Bethel, was named the Most Valuable Player in District 2A-2. Hill, who helped lead the Lions to a spot in the state quarterfinals, ran for 2,745 yards as a senior and averaged 12 yards per carry

The graduate

Friday evening, we all stood as the Graduation March played. The 220 about-tobe- graduates of OSU’s Institute of Technology began their march through the door at the back of the hall and I searched the sea of black caps and gowns for one particular person.

Have the happiest of Christmases

Christmas Day is but three days away! This is the time to be merry, it’s the time to be jolly. It’s also the time to be spiritual, as local pastors frequently remind us is the reason for the season. It is an important time of year for most people across the nation and throughout the world.

Stroud Community In Action (SCIA) and AVEM recognized City Manager Bob Pearman its 2022 Man of the Year for his commitment to the Stroud community and the excellent job he is doing as City Manager.

Two two-year-olds

Tillie had her second birthday party on Saturday. It was Peppa Pig themed and she loved every second of it. Brayden and I watched her face light up with the best smile as soon as we walked into her party.
