The theatre troupe from Chandler High School got their week at the International Thespian Festival in Indiana started off with a bang -- almost literally.As the opening ceremony was about to begin, thousands of students and teachers were ushered into storm shelters.

County Commissioners approve Ride Share contract

The Lincoln County Commissioners approved a contract with Ride Share for a substance abuse pilot program at their regular meeting on July 6.They approved a rate of $45 for pickup and the first 30 miles, along with a per-mile rate and a gas rate, to be paid from the opioid settlement fund.

Edmond man charged with aggravated DUI

An Edmond man has been charged with aggravated DUI after an incident that took place on May 16, according to the court filing.Yankton Lee Dillon, 39, of Edmond, was charged with one felony count of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated, on May 19.

NWS rules storm damage from straight line winds

The National Weather Service determined that damage from last week’s storms on June 26 were caused by straight line winds, according to Lincoln County Emergency Management.There was minimal damage, mostly located in Chandler and Wellston, said Emergency Management Director Charlotte Brown.

The paved road northwest from Wellston winds through trees and over creeks before reaching Fallis, where aging houses and former railroad beds offer only hints of what the town once was.For a community of about two dozen people, the road is surprisingly smooth.
