The Chandler High School band was invited to play at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville through its Music City Performance Program.

Route 66 book wins 2 awards

Abook celebrating 100 years of Route 66 recently won two prestigous book awards, according to a press release from one of the authors.

Beta Sigma Phi celebrates 95th Founder’s Day

Psi Master chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Stroud, joined thousands of members throughout the world to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the organization on April 30, 1931. It was also the 47th anniversary of the chartering of the local chapter.

Neglect case continued

Seven adults charged with four felony counts of child neglect from Davenport have had their cases continued.Jasmine Stewart, Ray Mitchum Sr., Juanita Mitchum, Joyce Mitchum, Alicia Mitchum, Rex. R. MitchumandRayMitchum Jr. all had pre-preliminary hearings on May 14. All were continued until July 9.

Absentee ballot deadline close

The deadline to request absentee ballots by mail for the June 16 election is 5 p.m. Monday, June 1.Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Dena Jo Bromley said absentee voting is available to all voters in Oklahoma.

Early voting begins June 11

Early voting for Lincoln County voters begins Thursday, June 11, and continues through Saturday, June 13.Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day may vote early at the Lincoln County Election Board.

Sample ballots available for June election

Voters can view or download sample ballots for the June 16 election through the OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/ elections/ovp or pick up a copy at the Lincoln County Election Board during normal business hours.
