This week, we concluded the second week of the legislative session. Despite the delayed start on Tuesday and Wednesday due to bad weather, we got nearly 200 bills through the committee process this week, and several heard on the floor.

Stroud man killed

A Stroud man was fatally shot last week and a Harrah man was taken into custody and is in the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler in connection with the shooting.

This year three Meeker High School boys and two girls were selected by the American Legion Post 11 to attend Boys and Girls State this summer hosted at Northeast Oklahoma A&M College of Miami, Okla., and the University of Oklahoma in Norman respectively.

Felony charges against Shamrock man

A man from Shamrock, Okla., faces two felonies and a misdemeanor following his arrest by a Lincoln County deputy and an Agra police officer.

McLoud man dies in crash

A McLoud man died Monday evening in a two-vehicle collision on an ice-covered highway in Lincoln County. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Smith identified the man who died as Lary England, 72. Smith said the collision occurred around 6:17 p.m.

Municipal election filings

One race developed for a McLoud City Council seat during last week’s Municipal filing period and several other contests for town boards, city councils and offices in Lincoln County municipalities will be on the April 6 ballot. The three-day filing period ended last Wednesday.

Man charged in Stroud gun case

A Stroud man faces two felony charges following his arrest by officers after he reportedly had fired a gun out of a moving vehicle. John Leonard Cushing II, 21, 503 W. 1st in Stroud, was formally charged Jan.

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has climbed by five each in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.
