Commissioners accept bids on road project

Lincoln County Commissioners during a special meeting Monday opened bids on a road project and referred them to the engineer for tabulation. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon said three bids were opened on extending EW 740 Road 2.3 miles east from U.S. 177 in Lincoln County.

Museum to host book signing

The Lincoln County Museum of Pioneer History will host a book signing 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14. Bob Palmer will be there to greet visitors and sign his new book “Painting Oklahoma and Beyond: Murals by Dr. Bob Palmer.

Resident Keturah Brown’s family presented her with a book for journaling. On each page, the various family members had written questions and left space for her answers. She has worked on it for some time. I got a peek at it before it left the building and what a treasure!

Help available for Christmas

The Prague Christmas Tree Project is taking applications from families residing in the Prague School District who feel they will need ssistance at Christmas. Applications will be accepted through November 19 at Calvary Way Church 2525 W. Main during officer hours, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Seminole State College

Isaiah Camren of Prague and Samantha Beavers of Stroud were among 29 Seminole State College students inducted into the Alpha Theta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for Two-Year Colleges.

Chandler High School senior Victoria Barton is presented a check for $7,651.75 as winner of the Sparks America Scholarship. All Lincoln County students were invited to submit an essay to be considered for the award.

Deserving students named to Meeker Honor Rolls

Meeker High School Officials at Meeker High School have released the honor rolls for the first nine weeks of the 2020-2021 school year. The following students were named to the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. Freshmen: Darick Carney. Sophomores: Maleah Blankenship, Brittany McDoulett and Levi Wynn.

Chandler Library has new books

The Chandler Public Library received 23 new books the first of the month for all ages. Added to the shelves are Jeff Kinney’s new “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End” and young adult writer Rick Riordan’s new book in the Trials of Apollo series, “The Tower of Nero.
