County offices open drive-thru service

The Lincoln County Treasurer and Lincoln County Court Clerk announced the opening of a drive thru service for the public’s convenience. Operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for holidays.

Tree Lighting Festival The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce will kick off the Christmas season, 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, with the Second Annual Tree Lighting Festival in Downtown Chandler at the Lincoln County Courthouse. The event will continue until 8 p.m. at which time the tree will be lit.

This week, we honor the men and women who have served our nation in uniform. Veterans like brothers Arvel and Glen Winter, both of Meeker. Arvel, age 96, served in World War II as a sergeant in the 41st Infantry Brigade and later retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force.

Thanksgiving deadlines

Due to postal closures on Thanksgiving Day, we will have earlier deadlines for the Nov. 26 edition of the Lincoln County News. We’ll need obits, legal notices, ads and news in by noon on Monday, Nov. 21 instead of noon on Tuesday, Nov. 22, as we normally would.

COVID climbs

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has increased in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties over the past the week. The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports three more people have died in Pottawatomie County and there is one additional death in Lincoln County.

Meeker Pumpkin Festival

The Annual Pumpkin Festival hosted by the Meeker Growth and Development was a huge success. The Festival is held annually on the first Sat. of Oct. this year’s date was Oct. 3.

Local dairy farm donates to Helping Hands

To help get more milk and dairy foods to those who need it, local dairy farmers helped provide a refrigerated cooler to Helping Hands Community Foundation and Food Pantry in Chandler. A one-time donation of whole milk was also made to provide nutritious dairy to the community.
