1. Update on asphalt overlay on Highway 18 A. Oklahoma Department of Transportation has started the asphalt overlay on Highway 18. They have started on the east side and doing one lane at a time. Traffic is being directed with a pilot car so be patient and careful.

August and Lincoln enjoyed playing this week at the pocket park on Main Street across from the Stroud Arts building. There are sidewalk games such as hopscotch, tiger walk, mirror me, floor is lava, twister and several more.

Questions on ambulance, jail

Dear Editor: This letter is being written to address the two propositions being put forth to Lincoln County voters on July 13, 2021. Proposition One on the ballot calls for the formation of an Emergency Medical District to be funded by a recurring (or permanent) countywide property tax.

Town Talk

Once again, Stroud put on another great 4th of July show for the community. Thank you to our local fireman for overseeing the shooting of the fireworks. Many people put their time into this production on what would normally be a day off work for them.

Taking time for coffee

The lazy warmth of sunlight, the daydreamy white walls, the invigorating scent of fresh-brewed coffee— stepping into the coffee shop was like stepping into a world outside of time.

Overwhelming power

The hairs on the back of my neck begin to stand in respect as goosebumps race down my arms and legs in shock and awe. The sound waves crash over me filling my senses and demanding a reaction. The overwhelming score filled with power and passion pass through my ears and over me.

1. Update on Lincoln County Special Election July 13 A. Please do all your fact finding about this election for building a new larger Lincoln County Jail. Our attorneys at OKC have advised Meeker and the small surrounding Towns around Chandler to put a lot of thought into this election.

Time again for the IFYR

After having to take a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Finals Youth Rodeo returns to action this Sunday evening for nearly a week at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center. This year’s theme for the IFYR is “It Feels Good to be a Legend.” Official check-in begins at 8 a.

Alternatives to the jail

Dear Editor: There is a Lincoln County Special Election on July 13th and Proposition No. 2 on the ballot calls for incurring a 30-year debt to build a new, larger Lincoln County Jail.
