Stroud coughed up four turnovers and allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown in the first half and spotted No. 1 Fairview a 49-13 halftime lead Friday night in the state quarterfinals at Moore. The result was a season- ending 56-20 loss for the Tigers, who had won 10 games in a row.

Tigers dominate all-district

As they did during the regular season, the Stroud Tigers dominated District A-6 post-season honors. The Tigers’Peyton Gaylord was named the district most valuable player, Brady Nichols was named tight end of the year and Bryce Collins was named cornerback of the year.

Suspect waives preliminary hearing

A driver who led law enforcement officers in a high speed pursuit that reportedly started in Perkins and ended at the Dale Middle School has waived his preliminary hearing. His arraignment has been scheduled. The pursuit went partially through a local farmer’s wheat field.

Bulldogs on All-District

Davenport put two players on the all-district team for District B-8 and three on the second team. Those honored were senior running back Riley Ethridge and senior lineman Ethan Boggs on the first team.

Hearings set in animal cruelty

Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for two women from Wellston who were arrested as the result of an animal neglect investigation that began in March of this year and who are facing 49 charges each of animal cruelty.

Christmas festivities

The Chandler Area Chamber of Commerce announced the schedule for the town’s upcoming Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting Festival to take place on Dec. 2. Hometown hero Jon Gray, pitcher for the 2023 World Champion Texas Rangers, will be a special guest.
