James Samuel Ledgerwood was born on March 7, 1943 and departed this life on May 31, 2023. James was born to Henry and Ida (Wood) Ledgerwood. James has lived most of his life around the Creek/ Lincoln County area. James met and married Imogene Thompson on April 23, 1962 in Okemah.

Lois Marie McFarlin passed away surrounded by her family on May 27, 2023, at her home in Tryon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK. Lois was born on May 25, 1945, in Tryon, Oklahoma to parents Emil T. and Dorothy Marie (Huffman) Miller.

Louise Mae (Byrd) Estes

Louise Mae (Byrd) Estes was born April 10, 1925 in Hamlin, West Virginia to Bufford and Gypsie Lou (Salmons) Byrd. She passed away Jun 2, 2023 in Chandler at the age of 98. Louise married James Estes September 13, 1947 and they raised 4 children together.

Time for going fishing

With schools out and it warming up, this is a good time to go fishing. Thinking about fishing, brings back a lot of good memories. When I retired from the daily paper more than 8½ years ago, I envisioned doing a lot of hunting and fishing.

A Prague man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to prison on three felonies in relation to a chop shop operation.

Dale school board meeting

Dale’s Board of Education this week hired several new teachers and a new high school baseball coach and also accepted the resignations of two others. They also accepted the resignation of Board Member Josh Clark. And the board members reorganized themselves for a year.
