Catching up

I was stationed in Portsmouth, N.H., in the early ‘70s and once witnessed a movie line there that stretched around a full block. People at the end of the line were maybe six steps from the box office but they were going to endure a long wait and lots of shuffling before they could buy a ticket.

Getting the vaccinations

A little over a year ago Pat and I had received our initial vaccinations to protect us from COVID-19. We had to wait four weeks before we could receive our second Moderna shot, but by the end of February we had it. Eight months later we received our third shot, the booster, and we were glad we did.

Town Talk

I serve on the Oklahoma Route 66 Centennial Commission and thus receive regular articles regarding tourism in Oklahoma. The latest email I received from Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell’s office was titled “Where to travel 2022: The best destinations to visit.” The article came from CNN travel.

Dale approves stipends

Dale School Board members this week voted to approve stipends for all certified and support personnel using Esser II funds. Acting School Supt. Ky Wilkins explained that certified teachers who were at Dale last year will each receive $1,400.

Jimmy Steven Tillman

Jimmy Steven Tillman passed away on December 22, 2021. He was born on August 11, 1949 in Sand Springs, Okla. Steve grew up around Bristow/Stroud area most of his life. He graduated from Bristow High School in 1969 and enjoyed being a jockey.

Randy Roy Smith

Randy Roy Smith, a life-long resident of Meeker, Okla., passed away on December 22, 2021, one day after his 63rd birthday in Shawnee, Okla. Randy was born on December 21, 1958, in Lakewood, Calif., to Jack and Joyce Emily (Keel) Smith.
