Wellston charged into the second round of the Pott County Invitational by dispatching host North Rock Creek, 75-63, Monday night.
The Lady Tigers, however, fell to a fourth-quarter comeback and lost to Earlsboro, 51-42.
Davenport played in the tournament Tuesday, with the girls and boys both facing Macomb.
Davenport and Wellston were on opposite sides of the bracket and won’t meet before Saturday.
In the boys’ game, Wellston took an early lead and withstood several surges by the Cougars, who are in their second year as a high school.
McCoy Caulson had 25 points for the Tigers and Hunter Green had 19.
