Bride-to-be Anita Reynolds, along with her sister Rita from Oklahoma City, Marilyn Wheeler and Robin Smith made a surprise visit to Prairie Pointe Saturday afternoon.

Talking about turkey hunting

Spring turkey hunting season in Oklahoma opens in less than a month. It opens April 6 and it runs through May 6 statewide except for several counties in the southeastern portion of the state. In the eight-county Southeast Region, it opens April 20 and closes May 6.

Updates from Meeker Town Hall

Can you believe we are in March of 2020? March has 31 days and is known as the first month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, due to the vernal equinox, which occurs between March 19th and 21st of every year. This determines when spring will begin.

Garden plans

I think I was six years old the morning I went out with my mother to work in the garden. She hoed some, pulled a few weeds and thinned her squash, leaving the pulledup plants along the row. “That’s kind of a waste,” I said to myself. “Yes, it is,” I replied.

Volunteering opportunities

I’ve addressed this topic previously. It’s been a while, though, since I talked about it and I really think it’s one that’s overlooked. Too many people don’t realize how important volunteerism is to our communities.
