LCPCW retreat

The Lincoln County Partnership for Child Well-Being(LCPCW) hosted a leadership summit and fundraising event in September to help the county’s youth.

The Mentoring Leadership Summit was held on Sep. 13 at Camp Cargill in Sparks. A total of 85 high school students chosen by counselors from each school in the county attended. The purpose of the event was to encourage and develop leadership roles in students. School rivalries were left at the door as the students were split up into groups to complete team activities.

Guest speakers were John Casey and Wes Evans, youth pastors from First Baptist Church, and Anthony Ramirez, exercise specialist for the Sac & Fox Special Diabetes Program. The students also collaborated together to put on skits with themes such as “how to stop gossip” and “the proper use of social media.”

The LCPCW plans to provide other similar opportunities for students in Lincoln County and is currently working on challenging these student leaders to be more active in their communities. The organization encouraged the students to organize food collections at their schools for the Thanksgiving holiday. The donations will be used in Thanksgiving meal baskets that will be distributed to 45 families in the county.

The LCPCW also held the third annual Boots and Pearls for Child Well-Being Fundraising Even on Sep. 21 at the Lincoln County Interpretive Center in Chandler. It raised funds and awareness for pressing issues facing youth today. The funds go toward Coordinated School Health Teams, after-school and summer programs, and other initiatives like the leadership summit.

The LCPCW thanks all it essential partners for the help provided and fundraising.

The group is a non-profit organization launched in 2014 in response to concerning trends relating to child well-being in the county.
