Celebrating Independence Day

Our family this year celebrated the recent July 4 holiday in a lot bigger way than we have in many years. We had the celebration on the holiday itself while some others in our neighborhood did it either on Saturday or Sunday of that weekend.

Town Talk

It’s grand opening time for Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66. Come celebrate with us on Saturday, July 30th, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. There will be free hotdogs for everyone and $2.00 golf for all ages except three and under is free.

Kin to a king

This just in: I have royal ancestors. Well, one at least. Several years ago, I took a DNA test and sent it off to 23andme because I wanted to handicap my chances of developing Alzheimer’s.

Town Talk

Thank you to the City of Stroud, GRDA and the Stroud Chamber of Commerce for hosting Stroud’s annual fireworks show in Foster Park. It’s a great time to come together as a community and celebrate America and the freedoms we enjoy.

IFYR kicks off on Sunday

This year’s International Finals Youth Rodeo officially kicks off Sunday evening with the first performance at 8 p.m. at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center. Official check-in begins at 8 a.m. on Friday. It will run until 11 p.m. Friday night, then reopen at 7 a.m.

Money trail

The four days before Tuesday’s election, we got 20 political mailers at our house. All were 6 inches by 11 inches and printed on card stock. We tossed probably another 50, maybe upwards of 75, before I started keeping them to count. I’ll bet you got a bunch, too.

It’s been a long time coming, but felony charges have been filed in what is being alleged as the largest reported abuse of taxpayer funds in state history.

Happy 44th anniversary

Tomorrow, Pat and I will celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were married on July 1, 1978 at St. Gregory’s Chapel. I’m not sure what we are going to do Friday. Probably work at least some if not most of it.

Dale fills teaching positions

Dale’s Board of Education this week filled several teaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year and also hired two paraprofessionals for 2022-2023. The board hired Amber Clark as a Special Education instructor.
