Hearings set in death of Carney man

Pre-preliminary hearings have been scheduled for a woman from Wellston and a man from Iowa charged in connection with the death of a Carney area man. Each faces three felonies. Each is being held in the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler without bond.

You’ve probably seen it driving around Chandler - a small egg-shaped vehicle with an older man behind the wheel. Is it a car or a bicycle? Motorcycle? EV? Or what? It’s none of them, really. Or, well, somewhere between a bike and an EV.

Meeker board to permit disk golf course

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week voted to allow two men to set up a Frisbee Golf Course at the Meeker Lake. They also agreed to allow Leslie Wilbourn to apply for grants for the Town of Meeker while getting paid from the grant itself.

Hotel closer to construction

A new hotel is finally coming to Chandler, with final approval for the site plans and prints from Choice Hotels Development currently pending.

The Chandler Lions played up two classes Friday night, traveling to Poteau to face the Class 4A Pirates, and played them on even terms for three quarters.

Tigers 56, Okemah 22

Stroud built up a 48-0 lead in three quarters and posted a 56-22 win over Okemah in the final nondistrict tuneup. The Tigers host Liberty at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Gray nominated for Clemente Award

Chandler High School alum Jon Gray has been nominated by the Texas Rangers for this year’s Roberto Clemente Award. His nomination was announced on Sep. 8. The award is considered baseball’s most prestigious individual honor for players, according to the Major League Baseball(MLB) organization.
