Bulldogs fall to Yale, 46-0

The injury-riddled Davenport Bulldogs lost to Yale 46-0 last Friday night and now turn their attention to a homecoming clash with SW Covenant. Coach John Greenfield said homecoming is at 6:45 p.m. with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Hearing continued on in-jail charged

A preliminary hearing has been continued for a man awaiting trial on a first degree murder charge, who was handed prison terms on five non-related felonies last November and now faces five more felonies he allegedly committed while in the Lincoln County jail.

Bond issues fall

Voters in the McLoud and Luther School districts rejected school bond propositions recently. In the McLoud School District, voters were deciding on two propositions and those in the Luther School District had a single bond issue.

Town Talk

Stroud American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) and Town Talk are planning an event on December 16th to honor our deceased veterans. We will be hosting Wreaths Across Stroud. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Stroud Cemetery in which the community will be asked to participate.

Last weekend my wife Pat and I journeyed down to our place at Lake Eufaula. It was the first time for us to go there for the weekend since late July. Our good friends Gary and Charlotte Barnett, who have a trailer right next to ours, hadn’t been there since that time and they joined us.

Trial set in trafficking case

A jury trial has been scheduled for an area woman who waived her preliminary hearing and who has pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking charges. A formal charge was filed against Taren Lee Formanski, 38, in Lincoln County District Court May 24 for trafficking in illegal drugs (Fentanyl).

I squatted behind home plate and flashed one finger down - the universal signal for a fastball. The pitcher - my best friend - shook his head slowly. Ok, then. Two fingers, a curveball. Slow head shake. He could throw only three pitches, a fastball, curve and changeup, so I called for the change.

Softball playoffs start

Stroud and Dale will host fastpitch regionals on Thursday and Friday. The Lady Tigers, 22-6 through last week’s games, face Colbert at noon on Thursday. Elmore City-Pernell and Amber-Pocasset face other in the other game at 2 p.m.. The losers of those games play at 4 p.m.
