Chandler poetry winners for Veterans Day

Each year Chandler Jr. HIgh Student Council holds two contests in honor of Veterans. The poetry contest is for 7th and 8th grade students. Students must write a poem honoring all men and women who have served or are serving in the U. S. Military.

Chandler High School hosted the OSSAA 4A East Regional One-Act Play competition on October 8th.

Charges dismissed

A Chandler man’s felony charge filed for lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 was dismissed recently. Formal charges were filed June 17 in Lincoln County District Court against Wesley Rahe Jordan, 37.

Agra woman pleads guilty

An Agra woman has pleaded guilty to a felony charge and drawn a suspended prison term. A misdemeanor count against her was dismissed on a motion by the state.

A jury trial has been scheduled for a Meeker man facing a sexual abuse charge with a child under 12. Two felony charges of sexual abuse with a child under 12 were originally filed April 4 against Jason Stuart Kirkwood, 42.

Thanksgiving is a great time of the year. My wife Pat and I always look forward to Turkey Day. Once again we are really excited because our family is getting together and that includes our daughter Meghan, her husband Terry and their son Liam, (our grandson).

Editorial

Thanksgiving is really the start of the holiday season. It’s a time to be thankful, grateful for what we have and to share with those less fortunate as we can. It goes all year long but it seems that during the holiday season we are more aware of our surroundings and those who are in need of help.
