Karen Allen was born June 17, 1949 in Chandler to Ervin and Hazel (Wakley) Allen. She died July 20, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 73. Karen was the ultimate babysitter.

Wanda Lee Craig was born Sept. 20, 1930, to Seth and Mable (Stephens) Westfall near Tryon, Okla. Her senior year, she was crowned Football Queen by Gordon Cross, her high school sweetheart. They were married in December 1950 and moved to southern California.

Patrick Charles Anderson of Prague, passed away July 21, 2022 at the age of 82. Anderson was born, April 15, 1940 to Patrick Issac Anderson and Freda Bell Cook in Lawton, Okla. He served in the United States Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He served in the reserves for four years.

Community members of Chandler are coming together in an effort to save Memorial Highschool and bring a part of their history back to life. Though much of the outer parts of the building remain intact the inside shows the aftermath of being left unused for several years.

No football for Wellston

Wellston schools will not field a football team this fall and instead will play fall and spring base ball. School Supt. Mike Franz explained the decision actually was made last Spring.

I saw the car as we turned right on our way home Monday from a quick grocery trip. It was a Honda being pushed up Highway 18 by a young woman on the back bumper and a driver who was leaning into the door frame while reaching inside to turn the steering wheel.

There hasn’t been a lot of discussion we’ve heard of on legislation signed back in May and that is about to go into effect Monday, Aug. 1. House Bill 3208 was signed nearly three months ago by Gov. Kevin Stitt.

Putt Putt Kicks on Route 66 Grand Opening is this Saturday, July 30th from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be $2.00 miniature golf for everyone as well as free hot dogs, door prizes and lawn games. Chips, soda pop, water, candy bars and Johnny Freezes will be available to purchase.
