NWOSU grads announced

Four local students will be part of the Spring commencement exercises at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. The ceremony will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, at Ranger Field. In case of inclement weather, exercises will be held in Percefull Fieldhouse.

Stieber places in state event

The Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association recently honored University of Central Oklahoma professional media students at its annual student broadcast competition. Dylan Stieber of Chandler was among the recipients.

Charges in alleged chop shop

A Prague man faces a total of five felonies as the result of two separate cases against him within a month. Four felony and two misdemeanor charges were formally filed April 18 in Lincoln County District Court against Mick Devin Vancurren, 31.

Update on zebra mussels

Shawnee City Manager Andrea Weckmueller-Behringer said the city is initiating an education campaign in response to the discovery of zebra mussels in Shawnee Twin Lakes. The city manager emphasized, “The Twin Lakes are a primary water source for the City of Shawnee.

Meeker’s FFA Chapter captured a first place award and also won several other honors in state competition recently. Vo-Ag Instructor and FFA Advisor Logan Johns said the students will be recognized next Wednesday, May 4, during the state FFA Convention.

Grow house hearing continued once again

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued for the fifth and final time for the owner of a major illegal marijuana grow operation who was charged following her arrest by agents in June of last year. Sai Ying Lin, 48, of Tryon, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 23, 2021.

Two charges in DUI case

A Prague man is facing two felonies and two misdemeanors after he was arrested recently by a highway patrol trooper west of Prague in Lincoln County. Formal charges were filed April 19 in Lincoln County District Court against Charles Lee Earl Joseph, 33.
