We’re at the midway point in the legislative session. The House has passed 381 bills and joint resolutions over to the Senate, and we received 327 Senate measures to consider. Most have been second read and assigned to committees.

Sidewalk progress

Construction on nearly a mile of sidewalk improvements on Park Road in the city of Chandler continues. This is on the south side of the road. City officials recently estimated the project is about 35 to 40 percent complete and with weather permitting should be finished by July 7.

Dale school board

The Dale Board of Education this week hired certified personnel for the 2022-2023 school year and also hired a new Middle School principal for 2022- 2023. But board members tabled the hiring of a Secondary principal and an Elementary principal for 2022-2023.

Today the Lord wanted me to remind people to always watch and pray. Jesus talked about this a lot in the recorded scriptures of His teachings. He said to always watch and pray. This doesn’t leave much room for the things that choke the word of God out of us as we see in the parable of the sower.

Up for state honors

Two teachers at White Rock School are finalists for state awards and they will find out if they are winners during a banquet Friday night.

Election results

Voters in Dale, McLoud and Perkins-Tryon elected board members during Tuesday’s General School Elections. At Dale, Incumbent Roger Batt and challenger Jennifer Herring squared off with Batt winning the Office No. 2 seat. Batt had 154 votes to Herring’s 113, garnering 57.

Commissioners to buy cameras

Lincoln County commissioners during their meeting this week awarded a bid for a courthouse and jail security camera system. They awarded the bid to CastleCom and the total cost is $111,172, Commission Chairman Lee Doolen said. The project includes 180 days of storage, he noted.
