Laws change on medical marijuana

Businesses involved in medical marijuana will soon be required to disclose foreign financial interests. The possession and sale of medical marijuana was legalized in June 2018 with Oklahoma State Question 788 passing.

Chandler driver charged with four felonies

Nine charges, among them four felonies, have been filed against a Chandler man. Formal charges were filed in Lincoln County District Court on July 8 against Trey Nikolas Brasel, 31. Count 1 is endangering others while eluding/attempting to elude a police officer, a felony.

Seven counts filed against Stroud man

A total of seven charges have been filed against a Stroud man in two different cases, two of them felonies, within a few weeks of one another. Zachary Othell Roberts, 42, was charged July 1 in Lincoln County District Court for a prisoner placing body fluid on a government employee, a felony.

Meeker hires Treat as principal

The Meeker Board of Education this week hired a new Middle School principal along with several teachers, some of who will coach. Several resignations were also accepted. The board’s action came after returning to open meeting following a 25-minute executive session.

McLoud celebrated its annual Blackberry Festival last Friday and Saturday. Over the two days, there were multiple events scattered throughout with a parade, concert and multiple vendors selling various blackberry themed items.

Another jump for COVID-19 cases

There’s been another double digit jump in new positive COVID-19 cases in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties for the second consecutive week, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. However, no new deaths have occurred in either county during that same period, according to the OSDH.

Franz to coach Chandler girls’ basketball

The Chandler Board of Education this week hired several new teachers, one of whom will also coach, along with a paraprofessional and an Aide/Substitute. School Supt. Melody Toma said the board hired Kent Franz as a secondary teacher and the new girls’ high school basketball coach.
