OSU announces Spring 2021 graduates

Oklahoma State University in Stillwater awarded degrees to 4,047 students this past spring, including 2,508 Oklahomans, according to the Office of the Registrar. Local students are listed below. John Giblet from Agra earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education.

After having to take a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Finals Youth Rodeo returns to action this Sunday evening for nearly a week at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center. This year’s theme for the IFYR is “It Feels Good to be a Legend.” Official check-in begins at 8 a.

Noodling tournament

The Sinkin Teeth’s Fifth Annual Noodling Tournament is on July 9-11. There is a $3 entry fee to enter the event at the gate, and kids 12 and under are free. To enter into the noodling tournament, it costs $100 per team and each team can have three people. 100 percent of the main pot will pay out.

Domestic assault and battery

A bench warrant issued for a Wellston area man has been returned and filed and his initial appearance is set for next month. Keith Allan Watkins, 45, was formally charged on April 30 in Lincoln County District with domestic abuse-assault and battery.

Heavy rainfall has created a navigational maze in parts of Lincoln County as high water levels washed out roads, leading to temporary closures. Above, Derin Carr and his dog, Meg, stand by a washed-out road near their home between Chandler and Wellston. Repairs have already begun.

Fatal shooting

An argument over property reportedly led to the shooting death of a 21-year-old Lincoln County man Monday afternoon. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Capt. Chuck Brewer, also an investigator, identified the shooting victim as Lucas Goss, 331824 Oak Meadow, located about a ¼ mile west of SH 102.
