McLoud man not guilty

A McLoud area man who was accused two years ago in the fatal stabbing of his grandfather was found not guilty during a non-jury trial earlier this month. A first-degree manslaughter charge was filed on May 28, 2019 in Lincoln County District Court against Thomas J. Beeson, who was then 18.

COVID increases

The number of new cases in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped slightly in Pottawatomie and Lincoln Counties, Oklahoma State Department of Health figures show. No new deaths have occurred in Pottawatomie County but there has been one in Lincoln County since the last report.

County approves block grant

Lincoln County Commissioners this week approved a Community Development Block Grant-20 grant and signed the contract.

Charges filed in strangulation case

A $10,000 bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man for allegedly assaulting a woman by strangulation in Agra. Formal felony charges of domestic assault and battery by strangulation were filed in April in Lincoln County District Court against Randall Dwight Thompson, 52.

New books available at Chandler Library

Sandy Helm assistant librarian at the Chandler Public Library announced that new books are available for patrons to check out. New titles for your summer reading enjoyment include the children’s books “Toby & the Secret Code: a Choctaw Adventure” by Una Belle Townsend.

Food giveaway in Wellston

On Thursday, May 27, free food will be distributed through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program. The boxes contain a meat product, dairy, fruit and vegetables so plan for refrigeration.
