A week or so ago I received in the mail from a first cousin in the Grapevine, Texas area the sweetest card that also had tucked inside an envelope full of old photos.It included a note letting me know what the photos were and that she had taken the time to gather them up.

I was called at 1:20pm Friday by a man posing as an attorney for my son, who had been arrested Tuesday.He said a judge referred him to my son’s case because he was innocent of the charge and needed to be a federal witness and out on an ankle monitor until he appears as a witness to a federal crime.

Lifetime Stroud area resident Frances Hixon passed away on July 19th. Frances graduated from Stroud High School with the Class of 1958. She married her husband, the late Charles Hixon, in 1959. They had one daughter, Martha.

Meeker Town Board issues building permits

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week approved a couple of building permits and meeting as the Public Works Authority handled several other items of businsess.Their actions came during a special meeting.Trustees approved a building permit submitted by Brent and Delayna Pearcy.

The Chandler Roundup Club held it annual open rodeo over the weekend. Spectators were treated to new lights, new seats and plenty of action. Top left, the National American Insurance team of ladies won the Baby Bale Race and earned a donation to The Chosen House.

408 counts in dog case

Jerry Hine, 83, of Stroud, has been charged with 408 felony counts of animal cruelty. Hine made his initial court appearance on July 24, and his pre-preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 31, according to court documents.
