Meeker accepts resignations

The Meeker Board of Education Monday night accepted the resignations of two employees and approved the school calendar for the 2020-2021 school year.

The board was in executive session for nearly 40 minutes before returning to open session and approving the resignations of Bobby Norman, high school/middle school Aide and Sallie Harrison, elementary school teacher.

Board members agreed to renew the contract with Municipal Accounting Systems for the 2020-2021 school year.

They also renewed OKTLE for Teacher Observation and Evaluation for the next school year.

Principals Candice Gatz, elementary, Virgil Fowler, Middle School, Brad Buxton, high school and Ginger Pritchard, Meeker Education Center/ Alternative Education, each gave a brief report. Pritchard said current enrollment has climbed to a total of 41, mentioning that when the program was started a target of around 20 was anticipated.

Elementary enrollment stands at 346, middle school is 154 and high school totals 251.

In other business, the board approved several policy updates including those for:

Bids and quotations, selection of a construction manager, parent participation in the school district, student retention (regulation), reading sufficiency testing, animals in school and reporting suspect child abuse.
