Marshall Ray “Slim” Taylor

Marshall Ray “Slim” Taylor, long time Chandler resident, passed away on August 1st, 2023 at 5:03 P.M. at the age of 91 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Marshall was born 19 October 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Thomas Gus and Bessie Mae (Law) Taylor. He married Mary Ruth Kay in Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 26, 1950. In their earliest years of their marriage Marshall was employed by Oklahoma

Seismograph, which led to their move to Stroud, Oklahoma in 1953.

In 1956 the couple and their two daughters moved to Chandler, Oklahoma and Marshall began working in the oil field. In 1966 he became a Lincoln County deputy sheriff and he served in this capacity until 1971 when he became self-employed as the owner/operator of Taylor Septic Tank Service. The Taylor’s retired in 1993 and spent their early retirement traveling the country in their fifth wheel. They also worked part-time for the Corps of Engineers as relief Gate Attendants at Cookson Bend & Strayhorn State Parks at Tenkiller Lake in NE Oklahoma. The Taylors attended and were former members of the First Assembly of God Church in Chandler for many years.

Marshall was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth Taylor to whom he was married for just one week short of 71 years. He leaves two daughters: Kay West and husband Paul of Ecuador and Sue Stice and husband Larry of Edmond, OK. They have two grandchildren: Jennifer Stice-Nunn of Chandler and Jeffrey Stice and wife Sarah & family of Edmond, OK. Great grandchildren include Laryssa Nunn and Nate Nunn of Chandler and Lillie Guinn and Caison Guinn of Edmond.

Graveside services were held Friday, August 4, 2023 at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma with Pastor Doyle Seeley officiating.
