Sophie Kay Elton

Sophie Kay Elton left this world on her own terms and entered her heavenly home on August 30, 2024, at the young age of 12 years old. Sophie was born on October 27, 2011, to Kathryn LaVonne (Elton) Schmidt in Claremore Oklahoma. At the age of two Sophie and her family moved toChandler,Oklahoma, where she made her home for the next 10 years.

Sophie was a student at Chandler Junior High, where she played for the Chandler Junior High softball team and was a cheerleader on the Chandler Junior High cheer squad. She also played softball for Chaos, a tournament team out of Davenport, Oklahoma. Her coaches, Bryan “Bucky” Herring, Kent Franz, Kelli Petrie, Shawn Blankenship, Nikki Estes, Jordan Lewis, Heather Pittenger, Keri Gibson and Hannah Smith were all people Sophie admired and looked up to tremendously. She also was so proud of all her teammates and was happy to take the younger girls under her wing. Thank you all for being there for her.

Sophie was the life of the party, legitimized by her end of the year award voted on by her classmates and presented by Mrs. Gross. She was kind, thoughtful, and wise beyond her years. She is the kind of kid that would give up a weekend getaway to see her favorite YouTuber’s concert so she could attend a friend’s funeral. She was dedicated, she attended almost a full day of school, played two softball games in the 90-degree heat and still went to her other teams softball practice… and still got her homework done. She was fearless, she would jump off a rope swing into a flowing river or assist her mom with cleaning and dressing a disgusting looking wound. Sophie always put everyone else’s needs and wants before her own. She loved to dance and sing and go on adventures, no matter what hour of the day she was down for the experience. She was creative, making the funniest videos and top tier school projects. She loved her family, but her favorite two people in this world were her Grandma Lori and Grandpa Todd. She also loved to hang out with her friends and spend time with them any chance she had. But her favorite thing of all was to eat good food. She was literally always hungry.

Sophie is survived by her parents, Kathryn (Elton) Schmidt and Nallon Schmidt of Chandler, Dillian Taylor and Jamie Silk; her siblings, Maxwell Schmidt, Miles Schmidt, Ragen Taylor, and Jax Taylor; her grandparents, Lori and Todd Elton (Chandler, OK), Debra Schmidt (Chandler, OK), Candace and Jack Taylor (Oologah, OK), and Krystal andAndrew Duarte (Skiatook, OK); one great grandmother, Kathryn Ann Elton (Hokah, MN); her uncles and aunts, Anthony Elton, Ben Elton, Elizabeth Edwards, Corey and Jenny Elton, Dustin and Grace Elton, Bryant Schmidt, Christina Schmidt, Kody Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Austin Taylor, and Gavin Taylor; her cousins, Tyler Powers, Jack Elton, Evan Elton, Nova Elton, Liam Elton, Arthur Elton, and Peter Elton; along with her best friends, Payton Marie, Brantly Buchanan, Miracle Farris,Avery Tyler, Aaliyah Gaines, Cali Orr, Skye Buchanan, Kymber, Harper, Sailor, and Taylen and SO many more friends and family, including aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, and cousins.
