A lifelong resident of Meeker, Joe graduated from Meeker High School in 1957 and spent his entire life on the family farm west oftown.Farmingwasnever just an occupation to Joe -- it was his calling. His grandfather purchased the family farm in 1917, and in 1948, when Joe was just 10 years old, his father took over the dairy operation. From that point on, Joe milked cows and worked alongside his family, building a life rooted in hard work, faith, and dedication. Joe often said he knew exactly what he wanted to do when he was a sophomore in high school- he wanted to be a dairy farmer. He proudly spent 60 years as an owner-operator of the family dairy business before retiring in 2005. In addition to the dairy, Joe also raised horses and hogs and took great pride in caring for the land and animals that had been a part of his family’s legacy for generations.
Joe was married to Margaret Ann Flowers in April of1971.Theyweremarried for 27 years until her death on January 4, 1998. Joe then later married Georgia Louise Flowers in October of 2001; they were married 19 years until her death on April 25, 2020.
Faith was the foundation of Joe’s life. He faithfully served as a deacon for most of his adult life and taught Sunday School for more than 35 years, impacting countless lives through his steady example and servant’s heart. He was a longtime member of Morning Star Baptist Church and most recently attended Mammoth Baptist Church. Joe will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength, deep faith, and love for his family, his church, and community. His legacy lives on not only in the land he cared for, but in the lives he touched through kindness, wisdom, and steadfast devotion.
