Iowa State Univ. announces Spring 2024 Dean’s List

Iowa State University recently released its Spring 2024 Dean’s List, which included a student from Lincoln County.Sarah Elisa McFadden, from Wellston, Oklahoma, made the list. She is a senior studying criminal justice.

Local biz awards $2,500 in scholarships to 3 LinCo students

Three students from Lincoln County were awarded scholarships from Mint Turbines in Stroud in May.Makenna Hall of Stroud, Peyton Gaylord of Davenport and Andrew Clovis of Stroud received the 2024 Rob Ruck Scholarship, which awarded $2,500 to each, according to a press release.

Stroud alum graduates from Southwestern College

Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, announced its spring graduating class on June 6, which included Gage Parrick from Stroud.Parrick graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in LiberalArts and Sciences, according to a press release from the college.

Chandler alum graduates from Fort Hays State

Fort Hays State University announced its spring 2024 graduates on June 17. Among them was an alumnus from Chandler.Elizabeth Moore graduated with an Associate of General Studies. The university recognized approximately 1,666 graduates in its May 10 and 11 commencement ceremonies.

Wellston to hold pre-Independence Day event

Churches, local businesses and organizations are coming together for the first annual Wellston Faith Family Freedom Event on June 28.The event is a pre-Independence Day celebration for the community that kicks things off the weekend before the Fourth of July.

Trials set for McLoud pair

Jury trials have been scheduled for two McLoud men facing three felony charges each in connection with trafficking illegal drugs, cultivation of a controlled substance and possession of firearms during commission of a felony.

Insurance coverage discussed at meeting on wind turbines

Local insurance agents cautioned landowners to contact their insurance carriers before signing wind farm leases at a local county-wide meeting on June 11 at the Route 66 Interpretive Center.

Lincoln County commissioners this week voted to approve a letter of amendment from the Bureau of Indian Affairs increasing funds for the 30 Bridge Project.They also adopted a resolution increasing the BIA’s portion of funding for the 30-Bridge Project.
